Problem:
Given a binary tree, check whether it is a mirror of itself (ie, symmetric around its center).
For example, this binary tree [1,2,2,3,4,4,3]
is symmetric:
1 / \ 2 2 / \ / \ 3 4 4 3
But the following [1,2,2,null,3,null,3]
is not:
1 / \ 2 2 \ \ 3 3
Note:
Bonus points if you could solve it both recursively and iteratively.
Solutions:
/**
* Definition for a binary tree node.
* struct TreeNode {
* int val;
* TreeNode *left;
* TreeNode *right;
* TreeNode(int x) : val(x), left(NULL), right(NULL) {}
* };
*/
class Solution {
public:
bool isSymmetric(TreeNode* root) {
if (root == NULL) return true;
return isSymmetricHelper(root->left, root->right);
}
bool isSymmetricHelper(TreeNode* left, TreeNode* right) {
if (left == NULL && right == NULL) return true;
if (left == NULL || right == NULL) return false;
if (left->val != right->val) return false;
return isSymmetricHelper(left->left, right->right) && isSymmetricHelper(left->right, right->left);
}
};
